Baker County Commissioner's Meeting

March 12, 2025

On Wednesday, March 12, Baker County Commissioners will be holding the first of their required meetings regarding the relocation of Baker County into Idaho. This is the first meeting of the new year and is your chance to have your voice heard concerning your support for moving the border! The meeting will be at 9 am at the County Courthouse at 1995 3rd St. in Baker City. The Greater Idaho portion of the meeting is scheduled for 10:30 am.

Oregon Legislators currently have two different Greater Idaho bills that they could consider that would move a border change forward.  SJM 7 in the Senate asks for the OR Legislature to meet with the Idaho Legislature, while HB3488 asks for a task force to be created to study the effects of a move. Commissioners in Baker county have already written a letter supporting legislative action, but could reiterate that support to Baker County's new state Senator, Mike McLane, who has communicated to us that he will not be supportive of our efforts.  Representative Owens, who is the state representative for the county is the lead sponsor of the bill in the Oregon House. Commissioners can also advocate with the Eastern Oregon County Association to write a letter of support for moving the border.

Plan on attending in person, but if you can't make it, the meeting can be joined by zoom at the following link: https://www.bakercountyor.gov/online/meetings.html
