Iowa and Indiana Legislatures to Consider Border Relocation

Legislators in both Indiana and Iowa have introduced, or are set to introduce, bills pursuing the addition of neighboring counties into their respective states.  In Indiana's case, legislation has been proposed to explore adding rural, conservative counties from Illinois by redrawing the state border.  The proposal is very similar to what Greater Idaho is trying to do, and 33 counties in Illinois have already voted to separate from the Chicago area.  In Iowa, the proposal is to add southern Minnesoata counties.  This now makes three states in the last two years who have considered, or are set to consider moving their state's border (the Idaho House passed a measure in 2023).  Read about the efforts here:
